DESCRIPTION:The ISLA Gaia Research Center invites you to participate in the seminar “Building Tomorrow: Opportunities and Challenges of Web3 and Blockchain for Future Innovators” as part of the Master’s course in Web Technologies and Systems Engineering\, given by Sara Teixeira (Director of Marketing at Impossible Cloud Network).\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe seminar takes place next Saturday\, January 11th\, starting at 10am – 11.30am. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe seminar is given in English\, is free and online. \nLINK ZOOM \n  \nShort-Bio\n\nSara Teixeira is the Director of Marketing at Impossible Cloud Network (ICN)\, where she focuses on building ICN’s brand and shaping the future of a decentralized ecosystem for cloud solutions. Before joining ICN\, she played a key role in founding the company at Exclusible\, a gaming and immersive tech studio. She worked with major brands such as Vogue Business\, TikTok\, and Mercedes-Benz\, led more than 200 digital experiences and generated over €10 million in NFT sales. \nAt 25\, Sara was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in Portugal for her contributions to web3 and blockchain. She is also an author and educator\, sharing her insights at events such as Paris Fashion Week and the web3 Summit in Milan. In 2024\, she published a book on web3\, gaming and the rise of virtual worlds. \n\n

DESCRIPTION:The ISLA Gaia Research Center invites you to participate in the seminar “Decoding Cyber Attacks: Anatomy\, Impact\, and Prevention” as part of the Master’s course in Web Technologies and Systems Engineering\, given by Professor Doutor Mário Antunes.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe seminar takes place next Saturday\, January 25th\, starting at 10am – 11.30am. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe seminar is given in English\, is free and online. \nLINK ZOOM \n  \nShort-Bio\n\nMário Antunes is a professor in the Computer Engineering Department at the School of Technology and Management\, Polytechnic of Leiria. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Porto and has been a senior researcher at INESC TEC since 2011. His research interests include cybersecurity\, information and network security\, anomaly and intrusion detection\, cloud security\, digital forensics\, and data center technologies. \nDescription\n\nThis talk aims to explore some of the most common cyberattacks and demonstrate how vulnerabilities are exploited. Using a simple experimental setup consisting of two virtual machines—a “victim” and an “attacker”—practical examples of these attacks will be presented. The talk will outline key phases of a cyberattack\, including reconnaissance\, exploitation\, and post-exploitation activities. Each phase will be illustrated through practical demonstrations\, showing how attackers identify targets\, exploit vulnerabilities\, and maintain access. Defensive strategies and countermeasures for each phase will also be discussed. The session will conclude with key insights and awareness about offensive and defensive strategies\, offering practical advice for improving cybersecurity in real-world scenarios. \n\n\n
